Response to some questions for clarification

Here are our responses to the questions posed by one interested purveyor:

1.     Where will the role be based?  Answer:  Anywhere in the world!

2.     How many people would the Secretariat comprise? Or is the role deemed to be filled by one person only with possible subcontracting of some tasks? Answer: That is up to the person(s) proposing to serve in the role of IOCE Secretariat.  As mentioned in the ToR some tasks might be subcontracted or taken on by other colleagues.  However, in any case IOCE will require a Main Liaison Representative to relate to IOCE and who will be accountable for the overall contractual responsibilities.

3.     How many members does the IOCE Board have and how frequently does the Board meet?  Answer: There are presently 11 members of the Board, representing various geographical regions.  Most of the Board’s communications are via email.  They try to organize a Skype teleconference at least every other month.  Once a year they meet face-to-face somewhere in conjunction with the conference of one of its member VOPEs.

4.     Is there IT/agency support for the website?  Answer:  That will be up to the Secretariat to arrange.

5.     In the Request for Proposals it is asked to include in the submission an estimated annual budget for the expected remuneration – would this be based on an annual salary, or on an annual contract basis or on a consultancy fee basis? And in which currency?  Answers:  The cost estimate should include remuneration and other budget estimates on an annual basis, either in USD or Euros.
